About the artist...

Leo Tolstoy, in his essay “What Is Art?”:

"Art is not, as the metaphysicians say, the manifestation of some mysterious idea of beauty or God; it is not, as the aesthetical physiologists say, a game in which man lets off his excess of stored-up energy; it is not the expression of man’s emotions by external signs; it is not the production of pleasing objects; and, above all, it is not pleasure; but it is a means of union among men, joining them together in the same feelings, and indispensable for the life and progress toward well-being of individuals and of humanity."

My first art sales were in the playground at primary school. The experience was sweet and addictive - not for the monetary reward, but the acknowledgement that here was something that could not be taught or learned: here was something one either had or did not have.

I had it, and with it I was suddenly a superhero.

From there I won competitions, had work featured in magazines, illlustrated a childrens picture book and various book covers and all before I finished school.

Once I completed my Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts in 1998, majoring in Professional Photography, I went on to work in the professional imaging industry for a time before returning to my first love - drawing.

As a professional artist I have since created large scale murals and commissioned artworks for private patrons. Most recently I have shown my Faerie artworks in Galleries and have released a popular Gift Card line of adult faerie cards.

Yet always I return to drawing and painting - exploring various mediums and techniques to broaden my skills into ever more fields. For me, art is my heart, my soul, my solace after all else has failed.
